A sneak peek into Spotify's secret labs

Spotify Previews is a new section that showcases a few of the fun ideas and projects that our developers have been working on - mostly in their spare time, during hack days or in the middle of the night when they can't sleep. Some of these are pet projects, some are prototypes but they're all designed to make Spotify even more enjoyable.

The projects here are unsupported by Spotify so they may not work as planned or be removed at any time, but if you like what we're doing let us know and if they prove popular enough they may well become regular Spotify features.

Spotify Apps Preview version

If you'd like to try out some of the great apps that are now inside Spotify, help yourself to this preview version (Mac - Win). There are still a couple of bugs lurking around, but you'll get a real feel for the amazing new world of apps.

To make Spotify Apps as personal and social as possible, we'll give providers of the apps you choose to visit access to your Spotify ID, and limited information about your Spotify use - such as currently playing song, play queue, library and playlists. This will help tailor the apps to your music tastes. App providers will only use this information for the purpose of providing you with their apps.

We'll be rolling out the finished version in the coming days.

Enjoy the ride.

Preview of Spotify for BlackBerry

This is the first preview of our Spotify application for BlackBerry. With many of the great features available on other Spotify Mobile apps, get ready for a world of music! Check out our blog for full release notes.

Click here using your Blackberry web browser to start the installation process.

A Spotify Premium subscription is required to use Spotify on your BlackBerry.

We've tested our app on the following devices: 9780 Bold, 9700 Bold, 9300 Curve, 9000 Bold, 8520 Curve. Currently the app only supports phones running on GSM networks. CDMA-network phones and the Torch 9800 are not yet compatible.

We appreciate your comments, especially as this is a preview release and still in testing! Please report all feedback of this preview on our official Blackberry preview thread.

Spotify for Linux

This is a preview build of Spotify for Linux. As a preview release this version is still unsupported, but we're running it ourselves and will try to make sure it keeps pace with its Mac and Windows siblings, there are issues regarding decoding of local music on the Linux platform so we haven't included support for local files in this version. As we haven't found a reliable way to display ads yet, this version is only available to Spotify Premium and Unlimited subscribers.

So how do you get it? We've packaged it for Debian Squeeze/Ubuntu 10.04 package and for Fedora 13, i386 and x86_64.
